WP 2000 Knowledge Management

The provision of water related data and information, such as hydrological, climate and socio-economic data constitutes the core aspect of the project. Nevertheless, the provision of data and information itself does not automatically lead to a more efficient and sustainable water resources management. Before knowledge can be used it must not only be generated but also represented and disseminated.

 

Objectives

  • assess the existing framework for water policy and regional planning
  • understand the ways in which water resources are currently managed
  • identify opportunities for improving knowledge management and regional planning in relation to water resources management at both the governmental and the local level

  • Institutional mapping of the water sector
  • Assessment of water related policies andlegal framework
  • Identification and analysis of strategicgroups in the watersector
  • Analysis of the policy and practice ofknowledge governance
  • Assessment of regional planning processes
  • Capacity building of stakeholders
