1st Mekong Delta Capacity Building Tour on the WISDOM Information System successfully completed

During the week from the 19th of September till the 23rd of September a Mekong Delta Capacity Building Tour took place to present the current state of the WISDOM Information System.  A joint German-Vietnamese team from three different partners organized and conducted the workshops in five different provinces in the Mekong Delta.

The Mekong Delta Capacity Building tour started in the province of Tra Vinh on the 19th of September 2011, followed by the provinces Bac Lieu, together with Soc Trang, Ca Mau, Kien Giang and Can Tho. Each workshop was attended by 15 to 20 participants from the local DOST's, DONRE's and DART's. Besides an introduction of the WISDOM project and a short overview of the main environmental pressures in the area the participants' expectations towards a water-related information system were discussed.  The presentation was accompanied by a live demo of the system and a practical session. A tutorial was designed to provide a hands-on experience to the participants. As a part of the concept it is intended to continue these workshops in the same provinces with preferable the same participants three to four times a year in order to ensure a continues development and cooperation between the WISDOM Project and the local authorities. The WISDOM Information System was highly All in all about 70 persons participated in the workshops.
